The Goodwill stores are great for finding gifts that you would not otherwise even think of finding. It is a store of treasures just waiting to be found. This was the case with my youngest daughter in finding her a birthday present for this upcoming week. I had a number of items but didn’t have that one item that she would feel like hugging me over.
Then, yesterday, I almost didn’t go to a Goodwill since it was getting late and I was tired and . . . I went anyway and as I walked in the door, there in in the front jewelry counter where they keep the large items was this brown cylindrically shaped bag with the contrasting yellow LV stamped all over it. I checked through the glass to make sure it even looked like the real thing and then waited for someone to see that I was waiting anxiously for someone to ask if I needed help. All I had to do was point to it and shake my head yes and the assistant pulled it out for me. Not surprising, I was told that it had just been placed in the cabinet. It didn’t take long for me to verify that if it wasn’t the real thing then it was a great copy. They placed my name on the LV monogram canvas mini pochette bag to hold it and I made a quick run through the rest of the store to check the ties, coats, shirts and pants and then on to the register to claim my find. With my discount, the $19.99 item was priced at $15.97. Well worth the big smile it will place on my daughter’s face when she unwraps the birthday paper.
I had already given her a lady’s long wallet from Louis Vuitton for her past birthday and this would be an ideal gift to go along with a theme I don’t believe I will be able to keep up for each birthday from here on. But it will be fun trying.
This isn’t the only item she will be receiving. The Goodwill is full of other surprises such as a brand new Burberry Bear from 2008 still with the tags and in it’s original bag, a blue belt from Vineyard Vines, a formal black leather belt from Yves Saint Laurent, a pair of Betula Birkenstock sandals, and a pair of orange and black Chaco flip flops. For her 16th birthday, she’ll be receiving much more but these are some items I found this past month at the Goodwill that were well worth looking through the aisles to find that item that will put a smile on my daughter’s face.
