Patek Philippe Case Serial Numbers

Calatrava logo     “Patek Philippe makes the most desirable watches in the world” and this statement is based on the resounding comments from the more serious watch collectors as well as the auction houses. Patek Philippe time-pieces also hold their value very well and increase in demand over time due in part to the precious materials they are made from and their limited numbers but mainly due to the painstaking attention to the fine detail and pride these professionals take in their product. The following is a chart I put together from four different sources, one of which is from a book in my library from H. Vogel based on actual watch serial numbers.

You will notice that the dates are not necessarily in chronological order but the order comes instead from the serial numbers. Different blocks of numbers are not necessarily used in numerical sequence over time but are used (as blocks) simultaneously (for different movements being produced at the same time) and used (as blocks) non-sequentially. For more in-depth explanation of the numbering system, check the article, “How To Understand Patek Philippe Serial Numbers” from timezone.com. I hope you find this chart useful in locating the year a watch you are looking for was created.
